Leadership – Making mistakes is part of making progress

Making mistakes and criticism is a necessary part of making progress and to gain experience. People make mistakes. Winston Churchill once summed it up well, when he said, „Success is the ability to move from one failure to another without losing enthusiasm.“ Everybody makes mistakes. For success it’s much more important to be consistent in what you feel, think, say and do today and tomorrow, than focusing on mistakes. Employees are very sensitive to incongruities here. Meet People on their own ground, where they have to work things out and be prepared to deal occasionally with the smell of sweat. Indeed, a Chinese proverb sums it up: „If you cannot smile, you should not open a shop!“ Particularly today, positive thinking and an ample portion of humour form an essential counterbalance in an era which questions everything so comprehensively.
